ImageJ memory on 64-bit Windows

Graham Wright-5
Hello

We are struggling to get ImageJ to open very large stacks (Leica lif files). We're running the latest version of ImageJ with Java JDK1.6.0_04 and ImageJ seems to think that it is running on a 64bit machine and lets us increase the memory to 5GB (the machine has 16Gb).

When we try and import an image series, which ImageJ thinks is 885Mb, it crashes and says it is out of memory at around 500Mb.

We've tried the ImageJ website suggestions, amongst other things, but no luck. Can anyone make any further suggestions?

Thanks
Graham

You might find valuable information in the ImageJ FAQ:
