Installation of imageJ on Windows Vista X64 issues

Nicholas Verge
Dear Listers,

I would be grateful if someone could please advise me how i can rectify
the following issue i am having.

I have installed the 64-bit version of ImageJ on my 64-bit system running
Windoews Vista X64 Ultimate Edition. As the system Administrator, I
installed ImageJ and set ImageJ to use seven of the 8Gb of RAM available
to me and ImageJ operates in 64-bit mode without problem. However, when i
log in as another member of the administrators group, although ImageJ
Options|Threads and memory dialogue states ImageJ can access 7Gb of RAM it
states it is running in 32-bit mode (although on first use it states it is
64-bit mode).

Any ideas?

Thank you for your help.

Does this also happen if you use Fiji?

I've seen the same thing on Vista 64-bit; if you use a system-wide
installation of ImageJ and JRE you get a 32-bit JRE unless ImageJ is
"run as Administrator".  This happens even if you specify the location
of the system's 64-bit JRE in IJ's run configuration.  The current
workaround is for unprivileged users to install their own copy of IJ
with bundled 64-bit JRE in their own ImageJ directory.
