Installing .jar plugins on OS X

James Kath
Hello,

I'm a new ImageJ user with a really basic question. I'm running the newest version on Max OS X (10.6.5 with Java SE 6) and I'm trying to install a .jar file plugin. Some documentation says to just drop it in the plugins folder and when you restart the program, the plugin menu options will be available - that didn't work. Other documentation says to use Plugins -> Compile and Run, but ImageJ complains that it needs to be a .class or .java file.

I've tried a few different common .jar plugins and even tried removing the underscore from the file name. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
James

Hi,
Didn't work means very little. What plugin is this? How do you know that it
did not work? (i.e. what were you expecting to happen?).

Jar files and java files are different things. *.jar files are zip compressed
and in the archive they should have a plugins.config (text) file that will
show you where the new commands should appear. They do not need to be compiled
(they should include all the *.class files).

*.java files are Java source code that needs to be compiled with the procedure
you outlined above. If you want them to appear in the menu structure, they
need to have at least a "_" in their name.
You need to restart IJ (or run the Help>Refresh Menus command.

I hope it helps.
Cheers

threshold&measure at once

In reply to this post by James Kath
Dear List,

I have to quantify fluorescence intensity on many many images.
Can anybody tell me how apply the same threshold on several images open
at once and then measure image intensity for all the images "in only one
click"?
(Even two o three clicks are accepted...!)

Thanks in advance!

Cesare
