Dear colleagues
How can I keep all installations of FIJI/Imagej up to date, with the same Update Sites selected, and/or specific plugins, in several computers in LAN? Thank you! I would install only one instance at a network filesystem and mount this on all computers in the LAN, read only.

This was tried at my former institute and resulted in every researcher
ignoring it, downloading Fiji onto their desktops and using that one instead of the IT-provided Fiji. The main issue is not being able to modify the menus with one's own macros and plugins. While the plugins.dir can point to multiple folders, it's just easier to directly drop a file onto the Fiji installation subfolders. Sure, certainly not a good idea for independent researchers. But there
are situations where it may be useful, e.g. lectures for students or workshops that span more than a few days. Or for a group of users that all do standardized work for which no automatic method yet exists, e.g. neuron tracing ;)).
