Hello everybody,
I'm new to ImageJ and i'd like to use the program to analyse neurons morphology (cell body area) and neurites lenght. I downloaded the plugin neuronJ but I don't not where to start to use it. I imagine it's necessary to calibrate your image before starting... i really need an help and I couldn't get any benefit from the Erik Meijering web-site. Please I need some help. thanks Best regards Federica Rinaldi |

Hi Frederica,
The manual for NeuronJ is available here : http://www.imagescience.org/meijering/software/neuronj/manual.html of course you'll have to know the basics of ImageJ first. The following pdf is a bit outdated but covers the very basic functions: http://rsbweb.nih.gov/ij/docs/pdfs/ImageJ.pdf Christophe On Wed, Mar 9, 2011 at 16:37, Federica Rinaldi <[hidden email]>wrote: > Hello everybody, > I'm new to ImageJ and i'd like to use the program to analyse neurons > morphology (cell body area) and neurites lenght. > I downloaded the plugin neuronJ but I don't not where to start to use it. > I imagine it's necessary to calibrate your image before starting... > i really need an help and I couldn't get any benefit from the Erik > Meijering > web-site. > Please I need some help. > thanks > > Best regards > > Federica Rinaldi > ... Hi,
If you are a new user I can recommend to use FIJI program ( I find it much more friendly and easy to use)... I also perform morphology analysis and I use the 'simple neurite tracer' plugin which is simple to use and have a nice documentation. If you install FIJI, this plugin is found in the segmentation plugins. Hi Rona
Thank you very much for your help. Just last question, Do you also measure the cell body size of neurons? I'd like to measure it too.
