New ImageJ plugin for figure creation.

Jerome Mutterer-3
Dear all,
Today, we are releasing the first public beta version of FigureJ, an ImageJ
plugin that will help you build articles figures from your images. It
reduces the time needed to build a figure from hours to minutes, works with
the standard ImageJ release, and adds some very interesting features like
it keeps track of original datasource and processing. Adding scalebars for
example is made very easy. Figure annotation can be done with ImageJ
built-in tools. Check out the videos on the ImageJ documentation wiki to
see how simple it is (http://goo.gl/yIzq3).
This is the first public version, so it certainly has bugs in it, and the
code is not finished. Of course it's free and open-source, so everyone is
welcome to suggest or contribute enhancements. We acknowledge the support
of the Institute for Plant Molecular Biology, CNRS , Strasbourg, France;
HTW Berlin, Germany, and Carl Zeiss.
All comments are welcome.
Sincerely,
Jerome.

For those who did not attend the Luxembourg conference, please have a look at
this superb plugin. Many thanks Jerome for sharing this.

If you download the whole zip file, please note that the plugin comes with
some other libraries that you might have already installed.
For some reason ImageJ detects those duplicates and deletes one of them. IJ
only tells you after the deleting took place, so it appears that there is no
choice of which of the duplicates gets deleted?.
It might be useful to make a backup of the plugins folder just in case of
ending up with the wrong files being deleted.

@Jerome: I have not found a way of resetting the Label sequence (I noticed
that one can do this with the "user defined" option, but maybe a "reset
counter" might be a useful addition?.

Cheers

Gabriel

Hi Gabriel.
You can use alt-'draw label' to reset the label sequence.
Gabriel you're right about the installation with the whole zip file. I
added a note about this on the wiki page.
Thanks a lot.
Jerome

Re: New ImageJ plugin for figure creation.... thanks

Joel Sheffield
Let me add my thanks for a truly valuable addition to the toolbox.  I have
discovered, though, that when I choose to not save the image, I still get
the file saving dialog.  Not a biggie, but I thought I'd pass it on.
