The School of Life Sciences at EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de
Lausanne), created only a few years ago, is a rapidly growing academic
entity that is progressively establishing itself on the international scene
as a major center for Life Sciences, with focus on Neuroscience,
Bioengineering, Cancer and Infectious Disease research. In this exciting
context, a number of top level technological core-facilities have been or
are being set up. Among them, the BioImaging and Optics platform (BIOp) is
offering competences and state-of-the-art equipment in light microscopy and
image analysis. The BIOp runs instruments allowing to deal with the full
range of acquisition situations and techniques (live cells, fixed samples,
colocalizations,
) and has expertise with a variety of methods of analysis
(tracking, deconvolution, quantification,
), based on commercial as well as
self-developed software tools. In order to consolidate its team, the BIOp
has an opening for an image analysis engineer.
The suitable candidate is expected to have completed training to the level
of a Master degree, with proven competence in image treatment and analysis
and a good knowledge of statistics. Computing skills in at least one
programming language, as well as in the management of web interfaces (php,
MySQL,
) are a requirement. The BIOp operates in a multiplatform (Mac OS,
Windows, Linux) environment, routinely running software that includes
ImageJ, Imaris, Huygens and Metamorph.
The job description comprise the development of specific software tools,
user training and assistance, and IT support on BIOp equipment.
The successful candidate will initially be hired on a one-year contract with
a salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. EPFL is an equal
