Oracle and Java?

Philip Ershler-2
Has everyone heard about Oracle’s new licensing scheme for Java? The bottom line, as I understand it, Java now requires a subscription based license (which must be purchased) commercial and academic uses have the same requirements.

Yikes,

Re: Oracle and Java?

Robert Lockwood
Check Open JDK.  I've installed it on MacOS but not tried it out ...
I hope imageJ will be able to use it.

Java is free and stays free!  See:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenJDK

https://dzone.com/articles/java-is-still-free

Simply download a OpenJDK distribution.

You can download an OpenJDK here:

https://jdk.java.net/12/

Or from several other distributers with different package options:

https://www.azul.com/downloads/zulu/

https://adoptopenjdk.net/
