Orientation J Distribution

ABHIDNYA PATHARKAR
Hi,

If anyone knows about how Orientation J Distribution works, please let me
know.
I am in search of a paper or any literature which gives an appropriate
description of how Orientation graph is generated using the Orientation J
distribution.
Thanks!..

Re: Orientation J Distribution

Herbie
Good day ABHIDNYA PATHARKAR,

the OrientationJ web-page gives a brief introduction but also cites a
number of publications that may help.

"
Distribution of orientations

The orientation is evaluated for every pixel of the image based on the
structure tensor. A histogram of orientations is built taken into
account the pixel that have a coherency larger than min-coherency and an
energy larger than min-energy. The histogram is a weighted histogram,
the weight is the coherency itself. The min-coherency is expressed is %
since the coherency factor is a index between 0 and 1. The min-energy is
expressed in % of the maximum energy of the image.
"

Please be aware that analyses by OrientationJ are based on local
measurements (structure tensor for each pixel) and as stated above, the
distribution is a weighted histogram of the results of very many of such
local measurements.

In fact there are other methods that measure regionally or globally such
as those described here in great detail:

Herbie
