Overlay > Flatten changes grey values

foxtango
Hi,
I start with an 16-bit image. The histogram ranges from 21278 to 65535.
Then I add a scale bar. Its grey value is well within the range of the
image. To add the scale bar to the image I make: Image > Overlay > Flatten.
The histogram of the new image ranges from 0 to 255. How can I add the
scale bar and preserve the original grey values of the image?
Thank you, Thomas Fischer

Re: Overlay > Flatten changes grey values

Herbie
Greetings Thomas,

perhaps you try it the standard way (Analyze >> Tools >> Scale Bar...).

<https://imagej.nih.gov/ij/docs/guide/146-30.html#toc-Subsection-30.14>
Paragraph: 0.14.6 Scale Bar…

Best

Herbie
