RS232 Control

Hello,
we are developing a low cost microscope control for the fine adjustment  
using a stepper motor.
Is there a possibillity to access the RS232 or USB port via ImageJ to
send signals to control the stepper motor?
Maybe some applications allready done?

Have you looked into micro-manager? http://www.micro-manager.org/
I believe there is now support for serial connection communication.

Peter,
for sending simple commands to the serial port, you could try the serial
macro extensions plugin.
