Your "multiple files" may belong to a sequence, or may have completely
unrelated names, for which you cannot use the "Image sequence" command.

Maybe you want to activate JFileChooser under Edit / Options / Misc ...
This will allow you to select multiple files in the File / Open ...  
dialog.
