I think you are using the wrong scales for the analysis.
Your set smallest size reproducing the units of the Menger carpet is about
22x22 pixels, and you specified a minimum box sixe of 2.
Surely from scales of 2x2 to 22x22 pixels the set is 2D. You won't find any
scaling repeating until 66x66.
My suggestion is to increase the iterations of the menger sponge or use a more
meaningful range of box sizes to match the ranges of scaling of the set.
