Saving a Results Table

David Webster
When I save a Results table using the File/Save As button, it is saves with
the ".xls" extension even though it is a text file. Then, if I click the
file, Windows tries to open it with Excel. Is there a way to save it with
 ".txt" extension?

Re: Saving a Results Table

Windows system has many annoying default settings. One of them – hiding
of file extensions.

The cure is:
* Open File Explorer
* In the "Tools" menu open "Folder option ..."
* Open "View" tab.
* Unchecke "Hide extensions for known file types".

Afterwards you will be able to create any file extension you wish.

Best regards,
Karlis

Although hiding extensions is indeed a very silly Windows default setting, I
do not think it is  the solution to the original post.
There is an option to save tables with a different extension.

Go to the IJ site, click on the documentation and search for xls.

Cheers.

Change "File extension for tables" in Edit>Options>Input/Output to ".txt".
