Segmentation of a selection for area% analysis

Dear all,

I would like to do a segmentation (quadrant) of a selection (arbitrary  
by hand)  of a picture and simply perform an area% analysis.

I have a RGM image and a binary version of it. I would simply like to  
trace the full area of the template of the original image, copy it  
onto the binary version and then divide the selection into quarters  
and simply perform a Area% analysis for each of them.

Is there a way to divide a preselected are into quarters and then get  
a area% analysis of each?  I could not figure out how to do it.
