TR: Identification of Fracture Zone between 2 D segmented stacks

Prot Marianne
Hi everyone,

Sorry if i'm not using the right way to ask questions to the community.
Usually I find myself the solution on the website.

I'm a user of Image J from a long time but now I get something special to do
and I'm quite lost for how doing it.

My aim is two "superimpose" two stacks of tiff : one original porous
cylinder and one compressed, previously segmented with Otsu Method, in order
to localize the fracture zone which can be everywhere in the volume. But as
one is compressed, they not having the same size. Furthermore they can be
upside down, rotated around the cylinder axis.

I presume I need to do a 3D rigid registration method to fit one to another.
But I'm quite lost therefore I'm asking you for some guidelines about that
part and how I can detect the fracture there after. I would like something
robust, not operator dependent looking at differences between the two stack
slices and telling broken or not. I'm wondering if you can give me your
opinion of how doing it and advise me about some plugin macro to begin with.

Thanks in advance

Marianne
