TrackMate output results: spots in track statistics

kb011
Hello TrackMate users,
I have a question regarding the spots in track statistics result, Track_ID
should be a unique ID for each track on each Position_T. However this is
not the case, I have for example the same Track_ID for the same Position_T
for three points that have different X,Y positions. How could this be?

To visualize what I mean:
Track_ID Position_X Position_Y Position_T
0 222.606 128.484 0
0 204.678 111.303 0
0 221.859 85.905 0

Thanks.

Best,
Karen

No absolutely not.
Since you allowed merging events as I could guess from your other email, you can have a track made of several branches, ergo having several spots at the same time frame within the same track.

The case where you have at most one spot per time-point occurs only for linear tracks, when you forbid merging and splitting events.

Think of cell divisions: all the daughters and granddaughters of a cell belong to the same track, and they are all present at any time-point.
