Dear Breanna,
There are several tracking plugins on the imageJ and fiji websites. You might want to use for example the Manual Tracking Plugin from Fabric Cordelieres (

Best wishes

Subject: Tracking and Measuring Movement
My partner and I are doing a research project over the movement of snails when exposed to different cues. We video-taped the snails for 5 minutes each.
We would like to track and measue their movement in distance to quantify our data.
We have played around with ImageJ and were able to plot multiple points every 10 or so seconds. However, we tried to connect the points using the straight line tool, and were unable to do so and generate a distance.
Is there any way that we can simply track their movement in distance? Is there a way to maybe connect the points automatically?
Thanks,
Breanna
