Hi, I’m running 1.50a on Mac OsX 10.9.5, and wanted to update ImageJ; when I run Help : Update Image J, I get an error dialog saying the release notes are not in the expected format. Is this a known bug ?

I encountered this issue and error message once within the past month using Mac 10.11.4. I downloaded and installed ij.jar by hand and haven't had a recurrence in susbsequent updates. Unfortunately I attributed the problem to having overtaxed the computer and didn't note the version with which this occurred.

The problem is very likely caused by the switch of imagej.nih.gov from http
to https. Unfortunately, for technical reasons, the ImageJ updater cannot work with the new https encrypted version of the ImageJ 1.x web site. To work around this issue, the new ImageJ 1.x updater uses http://wsr.imagej.net/ instead. -- Curtis Rueden LOCI software architect - http://loci.wisc.edu/software ImageJ2 lead, Fiji maintainer - http://imagej.net/User:Rueden Did you know ImageJ has a forum? http://forum.imagej.net/ On Mon, Aug 1, 2016 at 8:18 AM, Bill Christens-Barry <[hidden email]> wrote: > I encountered this issue and error message once within the past month > using Mac 10.11.4. Is this a known bug ? You are getting this error because the Help>Update ImageJ command in versions of ImageJ earlier that 1.50i is not compatible with the https encryption now used by the ImageJ website (https://imagej.nih.gov/ij). You can work around this problem by downloading the ImageJ Updater plugin at https://imagej.nih.gov/ij/plugins/updater/ and using it to update to the latest version of ImageJ (1.51d). -- ImageJ mailing list: http://imagej.nih.gov/ij/list.html |

I did what you recommended, but still got the same error message about the
release note. I hope it does not mean I have to reinstall IJ. I am running version 1.50e. -- Sent from: http://imagej.1557.x6.nabble.com/ -- ImageJ mailing list: http://imagej.nih.gov/ij/list.html |

Use the ImageJ Updater plugin at https://imagej.nih.gov/ij/plugins/updater/ to upgrade if the built in Help>Update ImageJ command does not work. -wayne -- ImageJ mailing list: http://imagej.nih.gov/ij/list.html |
