Using imageJ without a digitizing pad or stylus

Urbanek, Kylie McKenna
Hello,

My name is Kylie Urbanek and I am an undergraduate researcher. I recently downloaded imageJ with the intentions of using imageJ to help me count sensory cells and was wondering if I would be able to use imageJ with a digitizing pad and my cursor to trace the area of my tissue containing the cells, if I would be able to use imageJ without a digitizing pad, or if I would need both a digitizing pad and stylus.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Kylie Urbanek

Hi Kylie Urbanek,
It is the workstation software which interprets the input from the digitizing pad via the pads software. If the pad requires a stylus, normally any plastic object
such as a tine from a plastic fork should work. ImageJ will just recognize it as though it were a mouse.
Hope that helps,
Bob

Hi Kylie,

I have a Wacom digitizing pad with built in display.  The display is
configured as an extension of my computer's monitor and with the Wacom
software driver, the stylus on the screen is essentially a mouse.  I just
drag display windows opened by ImageJ/Fiji to the Wacom display and use the
stylus as the mouse device.  In my case, ImageJ/Fiji is agnostic to which
display I use or what I use as a mouse.

HTH,
Richard
