Dear all,
I've been having some thoughts recently regarding the ImageJ website and would like to share them. Don't misunderstand me, I like the website - I find it very informative - and appreciate the time and work that's involved in such a project. But perhaps the time and work can be shared amongst the community in a 'Wiki' style effort? I know that as our research group gets 'deeper' into ImageJ, we have been/are developing some macros that we would like to give back to the community. Somebody may be able to use them?! Likewise, somebody may be able to improve them?! (I'm personally not up to plugin-writing efficiency yet, but feel as though I can contribute *something*!) Perhaps there can be links from specific plugins (or feature-measurement macros) to a subject/topic? Or have examples of how we all use different plugins for specific tasks with example macros (a kind of "macro repository")? My feeling is that with a Wiki-style website and its associated community effort, ImageJ should be able to quickly evolve and perhaps increase its user-base. Any thoughts...? Andy (Perhaps this is already the case - in which case please let me know if I am "barking up the wrong tree"?! Or that this is a sensitive issue?! In either case, please forgive me!) |
Dear Andy,
we have discussed this issue at the ImageJ User and Developer Conference this May in Luxembourg. Since then I am preparing a documentation site for ImageJ, which will include soon the conference proceedings. I you like, you can help me building this up? You can check it out and create a account for you at: http://imagejdocu.tudor.lu I have not done a general announcement to the list, as I want to have some content there first. I like the idea, because it will also give Wayne some more time to develop and fix bugs instead of updating listings of plugins. I would be cool, if you can give me some remarks about the site. Hey excellent Andreas, this looks good and is exactly the kind of thing
I was referring to! I've only spent a few minutes on the site, but will sign myself up... Andreas,
It looks nice, a great start. I will be putting some of my macros up there soon.
