combine different focal planes into one image alone the Z axis

alanbfish
Hi all:

Sorry to disturb you guys. I am new to ImageJ and I appreciate your help. I have taken several confocal pictures in Z-series. I want to analyze the picture by combine pictures in each confocal plane into one, alone the Z-axis. Which plug in shall I use? I tried the Z-project function, and chose the sum slices option, but the picture I generated didn't seem to be a sum up of all focal planes, because it appeared to less intense than some of my single plane pictures.

Thank you all

Alan

I suppose that the sum projection appeasers less intense than some single planes because the sum contains also the low intensity of the background pixels along the z-axis. Try to use the max Intensity projection.
