distance between parallel lines

Jonathan Abbott
Is there a plugin or other way to easily measure the distance between parallel features? I often look at periodic arrays of lines that *should* be the same width. Since the edge of the lines has some roughness to it I would like to be able to draw parallel lines to get an "average" edge position and have ImageJ (or plugin) give me the distance between the two lines.

What does the periodic array look like in Fourier space (i.e. after FFT)?

You might be able to use that to measure your 'average' period.

Hi Jonathan,

difficult to understand the problem without a sample image.  I guess that the company logo that came as an attachment is not the type of image you want to analyze ;-)

If you draw two parallel lines by hand, it is rather elementary geometry to calculate their distance from the coordinates of their end points - is that what you are looking for?
