memory limitation

Nicola Gisbert
Hello everyone,

I need to handle with image stacks larger than 1.4 GB, but ImageJ doesn't
let me use more than these 1.4 GB. Physically I have 4GB RAM in the
computer and I thought with PAE I could allocate at least 75% of the
memory. Does anyone know exact why ImageJ has that memory limitation? Or is
the only possibility a 64-bit system. But a 64-bit OS won't help with the
Multiprocessor-Architecture with four x86, am I right?

Thanks in advance and a recreative weekend!

Re: memory limitation

Hi Nicola,

We run ImageJ with win64 and JRE for win64 on 8 GB machines. I've the
memory  set to 6Gb (you need to ignore the dire warnings that you get)
and got an out of memory error at about ~4Gb when I tried to push it.

Tony

PS. Don't ignore the dire warnings if you're using a 32bit OS...!
