Hi Tony,
You can use the Bio-Formats plugin and check the "Specify range for
each series" option, then narrow the range of planes. Or you can use
the LOCI 4D Data Browser plugin to read image planes from disk on
demand (as you move the z-depth and time sliders). There are currently
limitations to the types of analysis you can perform on a 4D Data
Browser window, though.
