text box on tool bar

Tom Heinz
Hi,
The documentation for the text box tool to make the text record permanent in the image is to Edit>draw (ctrl+D).  But when I perform this and then click in the image, the text box is deleted.  What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Tom

So what's the problem?

With ctrl-D your text is "imprinted" to your image and the writing
process is terminated.

ImageJ isn't Photoshop. The purposes are quite different.
ImageJ doesn't allow further text editing.

Hi Tom,

it is ok that the selection disappears fi you click somewhere else -
you could start drawing some different text.

If you don't see the result of ctrl-D (cmd-D on the Macintosh; cmd is
the cloverleaf key), maybe the current foreground color (color of the
eydropper tool) is the same as the background behind the text in your
image?

I don't know exactly what isn't happening as expected, but if the selection
AND the text are disappearing, the likelihood is that you have your
forground color is set to the same color as your image so you don't see the
permanently embedded text.  If this is your problem look at Edit Options
Color.
