Hi to All,
Has anyone experience with verily large images? I have a PhD student who would like to process BMP images having sizes in the range of 1G. I tried increasing the memory heap size up to 1600MB but it is not sufficient even to open them. best regards, Dr. Dimiter Prodanov, MD, PhD Biomedical Scientist NEXT Department E-mail: [hidden email] aspire invent achieve IMEC vzw - Register of Legal Entities Leuven VAT BE 0425.260.668 Kapeldreef 75, B-3001 Leuven, Belgium http://www.imec.be<http://www.imec.be/> <IMEC e-mail disclaimer: http://www.imec.be/wwwinter/about/email-disclaimer.shtml> ________________________________ From: ImageJ Interest Group [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of IMAGEJ automatic digest system Sent: Thursday 30 July 2009 06:00 To: [hidden email] Subject: IMAGEJ Digest - 28 Jul 2009 to 29 Jul 2009 (#2009-207) [https://list.nih.gov/LISTSERV_WEB/IMAGES/nihlogo.gif] [https://list.nih.gov/LISTSERV_WEB/IMAGES/listserv.gif] IMAGEJ Digest - 28 Jul 2009 to 29 Jul 2009 (#2009-207) Table of contents: * Adjacent pixels * Blood vessel analysis using 16-bit image * Does anyone have experiment on microstructure image analysis with ImageJ? * Zoom behavior on dual monitor PC WinXP system * getAutoThreshold * automatic point tool? * Tudor Dicom on Ubuntu? To process a single 1GB image you should probably have a machine with at least 8 GB of RAM running a 64-bit OS and a 64-bit version of Java. -wayne |

Thank you for the clarification Wayne.
Do you think it could be possible to work around that by introducing some kind of buffering during opening/processing? best regards, Dimiter |
