virtual stack of text images?

Is there a way of creating a virtual stack of text images? The macro ImportTextImageSequence.txt creates a regular stack of text images, but I have too many images and run out of memory using a regular stack.

Of course, I can always modify ImportTextImageSequence.txt to prompt for number of images to read and only process those; but I figured there might be a way to use virtual stacks.
