Hi all,
I would like to measure the diameter/radius to determine the circularity of the wire cross-section. Each image contains only one cross-section. I have tried this by the particle analysis in ImageJ but only find the Feret diameter. Meaning is I want to have the measurements done thru the center of mass/gravity and by a step I can define, for ex. every 10° or n radians. Is there a plugin available for doing this. Thanks in advance for your help. Kindest regards, Martin. ::DISCLAIMER:: This e-mail is confidential and intended for use by the addressee only. Hi Martin,
Have you looked at the 'Set Measurement' options and ticked the shape descriptor option? That will include a circularity measurement for any selection in the results table. If you need to go through the centre of your selection and measure the diameter at various specific angles, this should be fairly straight forward with a small macro. If you could provide a sample image to illustrate what you try to achieve, that would be useful. Hope this helps, Volko ________________________________ From: Braekevelt Martin <[hidden email]> Sent: 18 July 2018 07:28:06 To: [hidden email] Subject: wire cross section diameter measurements. Thanks Herbie,
I did check it and also installed the polar plugin, but it seems not working, I get a vertical profile that doesn't match my wire profile, also I don't find the data to calculate the diameter, radius. Martin,
please make sure you understand the polar-transformation. The vertical bar-like image gives you the diameter as a function of the bar height, i.e. the angle of your original image is mapped to the y-axis. Does this make sense for you? It would be helpful if you could post a typical raw image in the original TIF- or PNG-format. No JPG-format though, because JPG introduces artifacts!
