Drag and Drop to open as virtual stack?

Don't know if this exists, but does anyone know a short cut to open an image as a virtual stack, such as drag and drop onto a window/button to open?
(or more generally, is there a way of making an object that will run a macro/plugin when a file is dragged and dropped onto it?)

You can open a TIFF file as a virtual stack by dragging and dropping it on the ">>" icon in the ImageJ toolbar. Notice how the message in the status bar changes from "<<Drag and Drop>>" to "<<Open as Virtual Stack>>" as the cursor moves over the ">>" icon.

The Action Bar plugin can create objects that do this.
