Conveniently located between Boston and New York, New Haven is the creative capital of Connecticut with cultural resources that include three major museums, a critically-acclaimed repertory theater, state-of-the-art concert hall, and world-renowned schools of Architecture, Art, Drama, and Music.* *General Purpose:* Reporting to the Director of Microbial Sciences Institute, the Programmer Analyst will work with an interdisciplinary research team of biologists and physicists in their daily goal of understanding the operation and function of the bacterial cell using single-cell imaging and computational tools for the analysis of microscopy images and data; implement tools for data visualization; develop and implement statistics models for data processing and analysis; support the team in the analysis of data; debug and profile performance bottlenecks found in existing applications, and advise scientists on possible improvements; prepare documentation and end user manuals, and provide training for end users; and, perform other duties as assigned. *Required Education and Experience:* Bachelor's degree. Three years of experience in analysis and programming of small to medium scale systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience. *Qualifications:* - Demonstrated expertise in programming languages such as C++, MATLAB, or others. - Demonstrated self-motivation with excellent problem solving skills. - Strong organizational, documentation and multitasking skills. - Excellent oral and written communication skills. - *Preferred: * Degree in Physics, computer sciences, or engineering, advanced degree preferred.
