Measure adipocyte area

I want to measure area of adipocytes infiltrating skeletal muscle tissue in Oil Red O stained sections and H&E sections
Can anyone help me?

I have written a macro toolset for this, that offers different
options. You can find it here
http://dev.mri.cnrs.fr/projects/imagej-macros/wiki/Adipocytes_Tool
It is a quite general segmentation approach and you have to find the
right parameters to make it work with your images. If you use it with
watershed you might "over-estimate cells in the smallest size
category" (see publication above).

Great little macro Volker.

Mohamed, once you have the regions Volker's macro creates you can measure are etc.

If you are looking for a simpler (but potentially computer breaking) approach check out the Trainable Weka Segmentation. You will be able to get it to recognise adipose vs skeletal muscle tissue in your h and e stains.

I tried previousely to measure adipocytes in Image J software using Oil Red O stained sections
I convert photo to Black and white then adjust threshold to show only adipocytes in black color then measure area
is this method is true?
