Hi all,
While trying to set up my own Fiji update site I encounter the following problem: I followed the instructions on http://fiji.sc/How_to_set_up_and_populate_an_update_site#Dropbox Everything works as described including the expected error message (see image attached). The new db.xml file is also added to the local as well as uploaded to the online Dropbox folder. Thus, it seems that the information is recognized correctly. But I cannot follow the last suggestion to finally click on "OK" in the "Add update site" dialog since I then start running the same circle over and over again. Meaning I cannot exit this dialog to actually add the site to my update site lists. The only way to exit the dialog is via "Cancel" which obviously cancels the complete process. Does anyone know if this is a known issue, has something to do with the Dropbox account, or might be a computer/OS specific problem together with Fiji (I am currently running Windows 7). Thanks in advance for any help. Best regards, Jan -- ImageJ mailing list: http://imagej.nih.gov/ij/list.html |

Unfortunately, DropBox changed quite a bit in their operation since the instructions were written. The basic premise -- that the first part of the Public URL before the relative path does not change --- was broken. I will try to get a work-around in this afternoon. I *think* it works now (at least it worked in my test). Note that while I try very hard to keep things working, evidently Dropbox intends to make this kind of usage hard. So things might be broken every once in a while. I'll think about this more, but maybe a good idea would be to go Sourceforge? They allow you to access webspace via SFTP which we support for update site uploading thanks to Jarek Sacha's hard work. Ciao, Dscho -- ImageJ mailing list: http://imagej.nih.gov/ij/list.html |

Hi Johannes,
Thank you very much for addressing that issue. I perfectly understand that it sometimes surely is a pain to keep those things running when serveces you depend on change settings. So, I will try the Dropbox connection again but also follow your suggestion and definitely try it via Sourceforge if this is considered to be a more stable alternative. wish you a great time, Jan -- ImageJ mailing list: http://imagej.nih.gov/ij/list.html |

I was indeed unsatisfied with the Dropbox solution. Therefore, it is my great pleasure to point you to this announcement: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.java.imagej.devel/1494 Basically, all you need is an account on the Fiji Wiki (which you can create by email) and then direct your browser to the Special:ChangeUploadPassword page: http://fiji.sc/Special:UserLogin?type=signup&returnto=Special:ChangeUploadPassword After that, you can add your upload site with values such as Name: BioVoxxel plugins and macros URL: http://sites.imagej.net/Brocher/ SSH host: webdav:Brocher Upload directory: . Hope this is useful for you! Johannes -- ImageJ mailing list: http://imagej.nih.gov/ij/list.html |

Hi Johannes, hi Curtis
Thanks a lot to you guys. That is a really great opportunity for everybody trying to provide macros and plugins. Beforehand, I tried Dropbox, Sourceforge and an online server, but nothing worked out except your Fiji update server. I checked it out and everything works perfectly! All thumbs up for this possibility. I'll add the link to the Fiji update sites asap. Thanks a lot, Jan -- ImageJ mailing list: http://imagej.nih.gov/ij/list.html |

I am sorry that the other options did not work as expected, but at least the sites.imagej.net solution is now in place. > I checked it out and everything works perfectly!
