Two concerns

lechristophe
Hi everybody,

Just two concerns (questions) about the web presence and development of
our favorite software :

-  What happened to Tony Collins and the Wright Cell Imaging Facility
implementation of ImageJ
(http://www.uhnres.utoronto.ca/facilities/wcif/fdownload.html)? The
website and the installer were not updated since March/April 2006 (used
to be updated at least twice a month), and Mr Collins' email returned an
error when I tried to reach him about that. I would be very sad if WCIF
ImageJ development is stopped, as it was by far the most comprehensive
package, allowing ImageJ to be a really powerfull soft. Not to mention
the best ImageJ manual ever
(http://www.uhnresearch.ca/facilities/wcif/imagej/) !

- I could'nt find how to become a member at the ImageJ document portal
(http://imagejdocu.tudor.lu/). Seems stupid, but the "member section
didn't offer me a way to register. Maybe I'm to tired to see correctly...

Hi Christophe,

Thank you for your kind words. I'm still out here. I've just relocated and no longer have access to the WCIF site. It's kind of ironic as I started to write the WCIF manual for my lab when I knew I was going to relocate *to* WCIF.

I'm hoping to resurrect the microscopy collection sooner rather than later as my current duties permit. I'm pretty excited about the LOCI group's work for microscopists. I'll keep the list notified of developments.

Kind regards,

Tony

I do not know what happened to Tony, but Wayne Rasband is the developer of IJ
and as far as I know, development has not stopped.

Tony Collins collected a selection of plugins that he found most useful for
his work (and added some more, I think) and wrote a very nice manual that
describes those plugins.

However, you can still get the latest ImageJ ij.jar file from the ImageJ
website to be up to date.

Also see:
http://imagejdocu.tudor.lu/imagej-documenation-wiki/faq/how-do-i-update-imagej

Since many of the plugins in his distributed archive were written by other
users, you may be able to get the latest versions from the original sites
(see the last part of the IJ Manual at Tony's site where the links/authors
are given).

This gives some links:

Unfortunately you can't at the moment. A few days ago there was a spambot
attack on the site and membership registration has been temporarily suspended
until there is a more robust system that prevents that sort of thing.

Cheers,

Gabriel
