Hello,
The "template matching" plug-in that was developed by Dr. Walter O'Dell has been very helpful in selecting flowers based on their shape. In addition, we are using a plug-in developed by Dr. Christopher Coulon for refining our search for objects, in this case flowers, that are a particular color. It would be optimum to combine shape and color recognition. I have adapted Dr. Coulon's plug-in for use on the flower, *Prunella vulgaris. *The petals of *Prunella* have been identified using this particular color-recognition plug-in, however, the center of the flower is not identified as a ROI. The purple flowers of *Prunella *often do not enclose a unit, the count and area of these flowers remains inaccurate. This is because the color recognition plug-in depends on a completed object's circumference. The purple petals are often discontinuous. If you are so inclined to see an example go to this link and click on this link: <<http://tera-assoc.dyndns.org:8081/Peters_Images/>> and select purple original and purple extract. Do you have any suggestions on how we might incorporate the two plug-ins? Or is there an existing plug-in that will refine our search to incorporate both color and shape? Thank you, Emily Cavaliere TERA (Terrestrial Ecosystem Research Associates) |
I have a similar problem so maybe we can help each other. Can you
tell me 1) where to find the color plugin ( I don't see anything on the plugin page and didn't find it via Google), and 2) how you're using the template matching plugin (It seems like you'd need to have pictures where the flowers were all the same size for it to work). From the example it looks like it did a pretty good job. Is that the output from the template matching plugin? What's not working correctly?
