maximizing image window

Frank Rogge
Hello,

During a test of a digital mammography system, i also had to test the display system (one administrative "normal" monitor and two 5 megapixel grayscale monitors) with the "aapm tg18" images. These test images in DICOM-format should be displayed covering the full monitor surface. Normally I use the clinical viewer provided on the system, but in this particular case, it was not possible to import the test images. Therefore I was trying to use ImageJ. Opening the images in ImageJ is as usual no problem, but then the surprise came up: pressing the maximize button (top right icon) did not really work: the image window was growing slightly but not maximizing at all, the window did look very dwarvish on a 5 megapixel diagnostic monitor.
When I tried to view the same images in IrfanView in FullScreen mode, IrfanView was aware of the size of the monitor, the upper third part of the image was displayed properly, but the part below was black.
Does anybody have an idea whether i was meeting the limitations of ImageJ and IrfanView (i assume these programs are not designed for use on 5 megapixel monitors), or were my problems caused by non-standard behavior of the video card in the system?
