Dear Imagers,
I get a problem in IJ2 when I try to plot z-axis profile
(image->stacks->plot z-axis profile, a handy tool I use all the time, esp
the "live" option!), which is that the x-axis now displays as [sec] and
there's no plot there. The y-axis has about the right range of values, and
changes scale when I move the selection around in "live" mode, so
something's right there. I think it may be reading a missing time field in
the images somehow, plotting everything as x=0 perhaps. Saving as a
conglomerate .tif does not solve this, whereas saving as an image series of
.tifs does help. Any thoughts for a fix or better workaround?
Alternatively, it could be my files, since the microscope computer's been
up the spout recently. I can send a sample stack-chunk to whomever wants it.
While we are on the subject of this very helpful z-axis plotter, I would
like to put in a plug for a few improvements (if someone already has a
plugin for this, it would be great). First and most importantly, it would
be really handy to be able to re-size the plot and re-scale its axes, or
even shift from autoscale to a defined scale, on the fly. As it is, one has
to redo the edit-options-etc, then re-plot, which can be time-consuming
when going through a lot of data. Second, it might be nice to put this
probably well-used item further up on the menu, or make a keyboard shortcut
for it. Third, for multicolor stacks, it would be great to be able to plot
each wavelength as a separate color. If someone makes the plots really
spiffy, one might even imagine using IJ plots for publication. I am sure
the developers have their hands totally full, but I suspect these changes
might help a lot of people (or at least one!).
Thanks very much,
Jacob Keller
