FFT filter - some guidance please

Rapunzel
Hello, wonder if you can help.

I'm looking for some guidance on how to use and apply the FFT Filter to remove texture and noise from a photograph - are there any tutorials available? I have looked but haven't had any success - I'm completely new to ImageJ so I apologise if I've missed something obvious!

Many thanks

Herbie
Dear Rapunzel (nice avatar),

there is a demo-macro "FFTCustomFilterDemo.txt" that comes with ImageJ
(in the "macros"-folder) that may be of some help. Furthermore it is
always a good idea to read the corresponding section in the
ImageJ-UserGuide <http://rsb.info.nih.gov/ij/docs/guide/index.html>.

However and from my experience, successful operations in the
spatial-frequency domain and especially those involving the _discrete_
Fourier-transformation (e.g. FFT) require a profound understanding of
what the Fourier-transformation really means and what you are dealing
with when you use spatial-frequency representations of images.

There are many introductory texts dealing with this topic.

Have success

Herbie
