ImageJ-Like Cell Counter Alternative for iPad?

Justin T.
Hello all I read all about Not being able to run ImageJ or even a version on the iPad...but I would like to find an App or something to manually count cells on an iPad?   All I would require is load an image and place a dot over a couple of different cell types and let it keep track the number of dots!

I'd love to have a grid over it as well but if I found something that did the above I'd be a very happy camper!

If there are any ideas I'm open!

My goal is I spend alot of time at work counting cells in images and if I could do it on something like an iPad it could get done while mind-numb at home?  Counting on a laptop and a track pad is very tedious.

(can't do automated because I have to differentiate between differences of the same cell type)

Thanks in Advance!

Hi Justin,

Hmm, sad to see that the iPad doesn't support Java. The best advice I have
seen so far (from brief research) is to use an app like PocketCloud (
http://www.wyse.com/products/software/pocketcloud/index.asp) to access a
desktop machine via RDP. Then you can at least pretend to run ImageJ on your
iPad. :-)

I'd have to purchase the Tablet PC is the primary reason I haven't
considered it...yet

But that aside are you speaking of the tablets running a full OS...or is
there the possibility of Android operating devices running ImageJ (I have
heard the association with Java but never used an android device and I know
there are some Android Pads coming down the pike)?

My PI is a Mac guy and Mac doesn't have a tablet PC so it may be tricky to
try to talk the lab into the need of a PC in the Tablet version.   The iPad
is something we already have access to at this time.
I'll keep an eye out for a good used tablet PC just to keep my options open!

Thanks Stephan

There are apps for iPad that allow to remotely control a full computer
(VNC-like solutions), so you could use ImageJ on the remote computer
and control it with the iPad I think.

  Get a ModBook.

It *is* a Mac tablet. I've had one for 2 years (LOVE IT) and Axiotron is
even planning improvements on the original successful design.
